Kirk Matthew Spence, 59 of Sioux City, Iowa – Tuesday, December 12, 2017

Kirk M. Spence, 59 of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00am Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 6-7pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm and a prayer service at 7pm at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Kirk Matthew Spence was born March 5, 1958 in Sioux City, the son of Bryce and Elizabeth “Betty” (Shakley) Spence. In 1976 Kirk graduated from East High School.

Kirk enjoyed traveling the world entertaining others with his amazing voice and musical talents. He was a skilled musician and gifted at arranging music. He lived many years in New York and New Orleans’s singing and caring for the needs of the homeless. He took special interest in the lives of his nieces and nephews, taking extra time to make them feel special. He loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a kind and generous man who will be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his seven siblings, Michael (Evelyn) of Kyle TX., Steve (Connie) of Mesa AZ., Kathleen Ritchie of Sergeant Bluff, IA., Richard of Rockwell City, Paul (Deb) of Jackson, MN., Anne (Don) Kovacs of Colorado Springs Co., and Stormy (Kevin) Poss of Sioux City, IA., and many numerous nieces and nephews.

Kirk is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Kevin; and two nephews.
