SIOUX CITY — Lynette L. Vakulskas, 51, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City. Cremation rites have been accorded, as was her wish. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Lynette Lee Blakely was born on Jan. 12, 1958, in Sioux City, the daughter of Forrest and Lila (McGee) Blakely. She married Mike Vakulskas on Sept. 23, 1978, in Sioux City. She worked in the registrar’s office at Muscatine Community College and then did clerical work for MidAmerican Energy for the last three years before her illness. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother. She enjoyed yardwork, planting flowers, cross-stitching and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Mike of Davenport; sons, Todd (Meghan Theard) Vakulskas of Normal, Ill., and Christopher (Miriam) Vakulskas of Coralville, Iowa; her parents, Forrest and Lila Blakely of Sioux City; and a brother, Steve Blakely.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas and an infant son, Timothy.
